Telegram has surpassed Google and Microsoft by providing free encrypted group video conversations for 200 users

Telegram’s latest update marks a significant leap forward in its ongoing evolution—from a secure messaging app to a powerful, multi-functional communication platform for both individuals and businesses.

Here are the key highlights of the new features:

🔐 End-to-End Encrypted Group Video Calls (Up to 200 participants)

  • Telegram now supports secure group video calls for up to 200 people—a notable jump ahead of Google Meet (100) and Microsoft Teams (100 for free tier).

  • Calls don’t require creating a group first and can be joined via QR codes or invite links.

  • Emoji-based encryption verification (four random emojis) helps participants confirm secure connections.

  • Encryption uses Telegram’s own distributed infrastructure, similar in design to blockchain, and remains unbroken despite a standing $100,000 hacking challenge.

💼 Upgraded Telegram Business Features

  • Premium Business users can now:

    • Automate tasks using third-party bots (including AI-powered bots).

    • Delegate bot access for tasks like profile edits, message handling, story posting, and more.

    • Fine-tune bot permissions for privacy and workflow efficiency.

🚨 Account Restriction Appeals & Moderation Flow

  • New ‘frozen account’ system allows flagged users to appeal restrictions directly in-app.

  • If cleared, all restrictions are automatically lifted.

  • This more transparent process comes amid Telegram’s increased legal scrutiny and desire to present a more balanced moderation system.

🤳 Gesture Controls for Better UX

  • Message forwarding is now more intuitive—just drag the share arrow.

  • iOS-specific feature: Swipe right on the chat/story feed to instantly open the Story Editor for quick content creation.

🧠 Integration of Grok AI

  • Telegram recently integrated Grok AI as a chatbot, allowing conversational AI access directly within chats, boosting its appeal among tech-savvy users.

With this update, Telegram clearly aims to position itself as not just a private chat app but a secure and scalable communication suite—rivaling Zoom, Meet, and WhatsApp, while adding tools for businesses and AI innovation.
