Contrary to the widespread rumours circulating across social media and several online platforms, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not confirmed any date for the release of the Class 10 and Class 12 results, and results will not be announced tomorrow (May 2). A senior CBSE official has clarified that no final decision has been made regarding the result date and urged students and parents to trust only official sources.
The official CBSE result websites — cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and results.cbse.nic.in — will carry the final, verified announcements. Any report or claim not originating from these platforms should be treated as unverified and potentially misleading.
Based on trends from previous years, the CBSE results for 2025 are expected to be released in the second week of May. In 2024, the results were published on May 13, and a similar timeline is anticipated this year. Therefore, claims about results being released on May 2 or earlier are false.
This year, a record 44 lakh+ students appeared for the CBSE board exams, including approximately 24.12 lakh in Class 10 and 17.88 lakh in Class 12. As in past years, the board is expected to release the results for both classes on the same day.
Once declared, students can access their provisional marksheets online by entering their:
-
Roll number
-
School number
-
Admit card ID
-
Date of birth
The original marksheets and certificates will later be distributed through the students’ respective schools.
In terms of performance, CBSE saw a commendable outcome last year, with Class 12 recording a pass percentage of 87.98% and Class 10 achieving 93.60%, a small improvement from 2023. This trend has boosted hopes for similar or better outcomes this year.
CBSE and education experts are urging students and parents to avoid panic and wait patiently for the official notification. As exams are over, focus should now shift to preparing for the next academic or career step, rather than falling prey to false news or viral speculation.
