Ravindra Jadeja, India’s top-ranked all-rounder in ICC Test Men’s rankings, is now facing strong competition from Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has made a significant rise to the second position. Miraz’s impressive performance in the recent Test series against Zimbabwe, which ended in a 1-1 draw, earned him career-best rankings.
In the second Test, Miraz starred with both bat and ball. He scored a commanding century, making 104 runs off 162 balls, including 11 fours and a six. He then followed it up with a brilliant five-wicket haul (5/32) in the second innings, leading his team to a commanding victory by an innings and 106 runs. For his all-round brilliance, Miraz was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series, with 15 wickets in the two-match series.
As a result, Miraz jumped to 327 rating points, overtaking South Africa’s Marco Jansen to reach second in the rankings, trailing only Jadeja, who currently holds the top spot with 400 rating points. Along with Jadeja, Axar Patel is the only other Indian in the top 12, sitting at 12th with 220 rating points.
Miraz’s rise isn't just limited to his batting and bowling feats; his performance helped him leap eight places to reach 55th in the Test bowling rankings. Meanwhile, India’s pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, maintains his hold on the top position in the Test bowling rankings with a solid 908 rating.
In the Test batting rankings, England’s Joe Root retains the top spot, and India's Yashasvi Jaiswal (4th) and Rishabh Pant (10th) are the other Indian players in the top 10.
With these exciting developments, both Jadeja and Miraz will continue to vie for supremacy in the all-rounder rankings as they both showcase their skills in future matches.
