"Unsupportive stance towards India": Go Homestays and Turkish Airlines sever their connection

Go Homestays, an Indian travel brand, has officially severed its partnership with Turkish Airlines, citing the airline's support for Pakistan amidst the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. The company made this announcement via a post on social media platform X, stating that they would no longer include Turkish Airlines in their international travel packages. The move comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed solidarity with Pakistan following India’s military action in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir as part of Operation Sindoor, a response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 Indian tourists.

This decision reflects a growing sentiment on Indian social media, where users are voicing their displeasure with Turkey’s stance and urging other travel platforms, including MakeMyTrip, Yatra, EaseMyTrip, and Goibibo, to follow Go Homestays' lead. The company’s announcement has garnered praise for taking a firm stand on the issue, especially as tensions between India and Pakistan continue to simmer.

The situation is part of a broader context where India's military actions, in retaliation for the terror attack, have led to increased nationalism and calls for actions against countries perceived as unfriendly towards India. Erdogan’s expression of solidarity with Pakistan only fueled the outrage, leading to calls for removing Turkish and Azerbaijani travel listings from Indian platforms.

This development highlights the intersection of geopolitics and business relationships, where brands are being increasingly held accountable for the political stances of the countries they associate with.
