X (formerly Twitter), owned by Elon Musk, experienced outages for many users on Saturday evening, with reports of issues spiking around 6 pm according to Downdetector. This followed a global outage just a day earlier on Friday, marking two consecutive days of significant disruptions for the platform.
Users trying to load new posts encountered an error message saying, “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” On Friday, over half the users reported being unable to log in, about 30% faced app glitches such as timelines failing to load or tweets not posting, and 13% couldn’t even open the website due to error messages or freezing, per Downdetector data.
Back in March, Elon Musk suggested that X was under a “massive cyberattack,” claiming it was a large, coordinated effort potentially involving a country. Musk said, “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources,” and mentioned ongoing tracing efforts.
Since acquiring Twitter in 2022, Musk has been balancing his control over the platform along with leading Tesla and managing access to US government data systems—often seen sporting a casual “tech support” T-shirt while juggling these responsibilities.
The repeated outages highlight ongoing technical challenges and potential security threats facing X amid Musk’s evolving leadership and the platform’s rebranding efforts.
