A Punjab spy who sent ISI information about Army movements during Operation Sindoor was taken into custody

Punjab Police have arrested Gagandeep Singh, an alleged spy with deep-rooted ties to Pakistan's ISI and Khalistani terrorist Gopal Singh Chawla, in a major breakthrough against cross-border espionage. Announcing the arrest on Tuesday, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that Singh had been leaking sensitive military intelligence, including details of troop movements and strategic deployments, posing a serious threat to national security.

According to the police, Singh had been in communication with Gopal Singh Chawla—one of ISI’s key Khalistani assets based in Pakistan—for over five years. Through Chawla, Singh reportedly gained direct access to Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) and regularly transmitted classified data. He also allegedly received payments through Indian financial channels to avoid detection.

Authorities revealed that Singh’s mobile phone contained highly sensitive information he had shared with over 20 ISI-linked contacts. Among the most serious breaches was the leaking of intelligence during Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which suggests direct interference in ongoing national defense efforts.

Police also alleged that Chawla, while based in Pakistan, has been orchestrating a broader espionage network in India, using Singh as a conduit. Investigators are currently pursuing financial and technical leads to uncover the extent of this spy ring, trace additional collaborators, and map out the network's operations.

This arrest highlights the continued threat posed by ISI-backed Khalistani elements attempting to destabilize India through espionage and terror-linked activities.
