Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday strongly praised US President Donald Trump for what he called a "bold and historic" decision to bomb Iran’s key nuclear facilities. Speaking in Jerusalem, Netanyahu stated that the strikes would fundamentally alter the course of global affairs, particularly in the Middle East.
“History will remember that President Trump acted decisively to deny the most dangerous regime on earth access to the most dangerous weapons,” Netanyahu said, referring to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He called the action “a pivotal moment that could reshape our region’s future.”
The US assault—one of the most aggressive actions against Iran in recent history—targeted three high-profile nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. These sites have long been at the heart of international concerns over Iran’s nuclear program. In a display of overwhelming military power, six GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs—nicknamed “bunker busters”—were dropped using B-2 stealth bombers, capable of penetrating deep underground facilities.
Netanyahu revealed that Trump personally called him moments after the strikes concluded. "His leadership in this moment has created a turning point that may lead the Middle East—and possibly the wider world—into a new era of peace and stability," the Israeli leader said. He also acknowledged the unparalleled nature of the US operation: “No other country on earth could have pulled off such a precision strike against fortified nuclear sites. America has demonstrated both resolve and capability."
Trump, speaking later in a televised address, outlined the rationale for the attack. He said the objective was to eliminate Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and neutralize any immediate threat of nuclear weapon development. Trump stated that he worked “in close coordination” with Netanyahu and other US allies to carry out what he called a “decisive and necessary mission.”
“Iran should not test our resolve,” Trump warned, adding that any retaliatory move would invite “even more devastating” consequences. “There will either be peace—or there will be tragedy for Iran,” he said.
Meanwhile, the international community responded with alarm. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres issued a grave warning, calling the US strikes a “dangerous escalation” that threatens global peace.
“We are at a critical juncture. There is now a very real danger that this conflict could spiral out of control, with catastrophic results for civilians and for regional and global stability,” Guterres said. He urged all sides to step back from the brink and return to diplomacy. “The only path forward is negotiation. The only future worth striving for is peace,” he concluded.
As tensions continued to mount, world leaders were reportedly engaged in urgent diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation, while populations across the Middle East braced for the possibility of more conflict in the days to come.
