Manish Kashyap, the popular YouTuber and Bihar political figure, has officially resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a Facebook Live session, citing his inability to protect himself within the party and expressing a sense of ineffectiveness in his role. He emotionally stated, “I couldn’t protect myself while being in the BJP. How can I help others?” hinting at disappointment and disillusionment with the party.
Kashyap also hinted at continuing his political journey through other platforms, subtly suggesting he might contest the upcoming assembly elections, signaling a shift toward direct political engagement outside the BJP framework.
Background-wise, Kashyap joined the BJP last year in the presence of prominent leaders Manoj Tiwari and Anil Baluni. He contested the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections from the Chanpatia seat under his official name Tripurari Kumar Tiwari and holds an engineering degree earned in 2016.
Kashyap first gained widespread attention due to controversy after uploading a misleading video that falsely portrayed migrant laborers from Bihar being harassed in Tamil Nadu. This sparked political tension between Bihar and Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and DGP Shailendra Babu both denied the harassment claims, stating the videos were fabricated and misleading. Kashyap was arrested in March in connection with circulating these videos but was later granted bail by the Madras High Court.
Last month, Kashyap was reportedly beaten by junior doctors at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) after an altercation, which may have contributed to his feeling unsafe within BJP ranks.
Now, as he steps away from BJP, Kashyap plans to raise his voice and engage politically through other means, possibly contesting elections independently or with another platform.
