Israel's sirens sound as Iran launches missiles, and locals are advised to take cover

Hours after the United States conducted targeted airstrikes on Iran’s key nuclear sites, tensions in the region escalated dramatically as Iran launched a powerful and coordinated missile barrage against multiple locations across Israel. This retaliatory move, described by Iranian state media as a “measured and justified response,” has sparked alarm and concern across the Middle East and beyond.

Israeli media outlets reported that explosions were heard in several cities, with missile alerts sounding across northern, central, and southern parts of the country. Residents were seen rushing to bomb shelters, as sirens blared and the Iron Dome defense system was activated to intercept incoming threats.

In a formal statement, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed that several projectiles had been launched from Iranian territory and warned that more could follow. “The public is asked to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command,” the statement read. “At this time, the Air Force is operating intensively to intercept and strike wherever necessary to eliminate the threat.”

Initial reports suggest that while several missiles were successfully intercepted, a few did manage to strike ground targets, causing damage to infrastructure in isolated areas. Casualty figures remain unconfirmed, though emergency services have been deployed to multiple sites.

This latest exchange marks a dangerous turning point in the already fragile relations between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Analysts fear that this tit-for-tat escalation could spiral into a full-scale conflict if diplomatic channels are not urgently activated.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to hold an emergency security meeting, while global leaders have begun issuing calls for restraint to prevent further destabilization in the region.
