The eleventh Indian to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame is MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has officially been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, becoming the 11th Indian cricketer to receive the prestigious honour. The announcement was made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on June 9, just weeks before Dhoni turns 44 on July 7.

This long-anticipated recognition comes nearly five years after his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, following his last appearance in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

Why Dhoni's Induction Matters:

  • Dhoni is the only captain in the world to have won all three major ICC limited-overs trophies:

    • 2007 T20 World Cup

    • 2011 ODI World Cup

    • 2013 Champions Trophy

  • His strategic brilliance, calm presence, and unmatched finishing ability made him a global cricketing icon.

  • He scored 10,773 ODI runs at an average of 50.57, an exceptional figure for a middle-order wicket-keeper.

  • Dhoni redefined the role of a wicket-keeper-batsman, not just with his glove work but with his helicopter shots and clinical finishes.
