Tinder introduces the double date tool to help you and your closest friend fall in love

Tinder has introduced a new feature called Double Date, allowing users to team up with a friend and swipe on other duos. Unlike the usual one-on-one swiping, this feature brings a more social and group-based approach to online dating.

Here’s how Double Date works:

  • Form a duo: Invite up to three friends and create a shared profile.

  • Swipe together: Browse and match with other duos.

  • One Like is enough: A single “Like” from either person in the duo can initiate a match.

  • Start a group chat: Once matched, both pairs are added to a group chat to plan a potential outing.

The feature is currently available in the US and select markets, with a global rollout scheduled for July.

Tinder says Double Date is inspired by other features like Tinder Matchmaker and Share My Date, which already allow users to involve friends in the dating process. The company claims the new feature makes dating less pressured and more fun, especially for Gen Z and younger millennials, who often prefer dating as a shared experience.

Tinder also shared some insights from early testing:

  • 90% of Double Date profiles are from users under 29.

  • 15% of participants were either new or returning users, suggesting the feature is helping to re-engage dormant accounts.

The move fits into Tinder’s broader strategy to make dating more collaborative, social, and relaxed, particularly among younger users looking for safety, authenticity, and shared experiences.
