According to reports, V and Jungkook of BTS could attend the hearing for the Sojang slander case

BTS members V and Jungkook’s defamation case against controversial YouTuber Sojang has now entered a potential turning point, with the Seoul court pushing both parties toward a possible settlement.

As per a July 3 report from Korean outlet Star Today, a court-mediated session has been scheduled for July 21 at 9:40 AM KST (6:10 AM IST). This session replaces the earlier plan for a full trial. While it's not confirmed, V and Jungkook may be required to attend in person—a first, since earlier proceedings didn’t require their presence.

This step follows a June 16 ruling from a higher court to shift the case into a settlement-oriented process. If a resolution is reached, it would carry the same legal weight as a formal court judgment under Article 28 of South Korea’s Civil Procedure Act.

The dispute dates back to February 2025, when Sojang—who operates the gossip channel Taldeok Camp—was found guilty of posting 23 defamatory videos between October 2021 and June 2023. She was ordered by the Seoul Western District Court to pay 76 million KRW (~Rs 47 lakh) in damages. The breakdown included:

  • V: 10 million KRW (~Rs 6 lakh)

  • Jungkook: 15 million KRW (~Rs 9.3 lakh)

  • BIGHIT MUSIC: 51 million KRW (~Rs 31 lakh)

Originally, the lawsuit filed in January 2025 sought 90 million KRW, which the court partially adjusted.

This legal update arrives shortly after BTS’s July 1 Weverse livestream, where they officially announced their group reunion, ending a three-year break. With their comeback and this legal chapter potentially closing, fans are eager to see what’s next for the band.
