Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has firmly stated that artificial intelligence (AI) will not lead to mass layoffs among white-collar workers but will instead enhance workforce productivity by acting as a transformative tool. Speaking at the 2025 AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Benioff acknowledged that AI currently performs 50% of the work at Salesforce, yet it functions as an aid rather than a replacement for human employees.
He emphasized that AI is fundamentally reshaping operations within companies like Salesforce by boosting efficiency, not reducing headcount. For example, 25% of the company's new code in Q1 2025 was AI-generated, and its AI platform, Agentforce, helped resolve 85% of customer service queries. These developments, Benioff noted, allow employees to work smarter and build better relationships with clients.
He rejected the narrative of widespread job losses due to AI, saying fears of massive white-collar layoffs are misplaced. Instead, he advocated for a "radical augmentation" of the workforce, where humans and AI collaborate. Salesforce, he explained, is reorganizing work into skill-based tasks and helping employees shift into AI-supported roles.
While Benioff acknowledged that AI will bring changes, he views it as an opportunity to rethink how jobs are structured, not as a threat to human employment. The core of his message: AI should be embraced as a tool for empowerment and innovation, not feared as a harbinger of mass displacement.
