Delegations from Op Sindoor sent a message of national unity: To the Quad leaders, Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar praised the Operation Sindoor outreach programme, calling it a powerful display of India’s political unity and pluralism on the global stage. Speaking from Washington DC after a QUAD meeting, Jaishankar highlighted that the initiative—featuring over 50 members including sitting MPs, former MPs, and diplomats from both ruling and opposition parties—sent a strong, unified message to the international community on India's firm stand against terrorism.

Operation Sindoor was launched to underscore India’s position following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. The delegations travelled to over 30 countries to explain that India's retaliatory strikes against Pakistan-based terror camps were non-escalatory and rooted in its policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism.

Jaishankar specifically highlighted the bipartisan nature of the outreach, with participants including:

  • Ruling alliance leaders like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Baijayant Panda, and Shrikant Shinde

  • Opposition figures like Shashi Tharoor, Supriya Sule, Kanimozhi, Manish Tewari, Asaduddin Owaisi, and Ghulam Nabi Azad

Calling the effort a testament to India’s political maturity, Jaishankar said the impact of such broad-based outreach was significant:

"When you have a broad-based set of people who speak with one voice abroad, it conveys a strong message of national unity… It really served our national interest."

The initiative was widely seen as a diplomatic masterstroke, effectively countering narratives of escalation while bolstering India’s global image as a democratic, peaceful nation taking a firm but measured stance against terror.
