Diljit Dosanjh is still in Border 2: Why the movie studio lifted the actor's ban

Diljit Dosanjh will continue to be part of Border 2 despite the controversy surrounding his collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. Following public backlash and pressure from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), there were serious concerns about Diljit's presence in upcoming films, including Border 2. FWICE had issued letters to producers demanding his removal.

However, Diljit put the rumours to rest by sharing a behind-the-scenes video from the Border 2 set, dressed as an Indian army officer, confirming his continued role in the film.

FWICE President BN Tiwari revealed that Bhushan Kumar of T-Series met with the federation multiple times, explaining that the film was nearly complete, with only a small song portion left to shoot at the National Defence Academy. Replacing Diljit at this stage would have caused major disruptions and financial strain, prompting FWICE to revoke the ban specifically for Border 2.

Ashoke Pandit, an advisor to FWICE, added that Bhushan Kumar assured the federation in writing that T-Series would not work with Diljit in future projects. While the federation agreed to let Border 2 proceed with Diljit, the overall non-cooperation directive against the actor remains intact, and no other filmmakers are allowed to work with him under the federation's guidelines.

FWICE emphasized they are standing by the industry and not bowing to outside pressure, but allowed Border 2 to proceed to avoid losses to the production house and collateral damage to other cast members like Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. The film, which promotes national integrity and features no Pakistani actors, is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026.
