A controversy erupted after an audio clip allegedly featuring Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra went viral on social media. In the recording, the MLA is reportedly heard berating and threatening a local panchayat secretary who failed to recognize him during a phone call regarding a death certificate inquiry. The incident, which drew comparisons to the popular web series Panchayat, unfolded in real life and quickly gained public attention.
Bhai Virendra, the RJD legislator from Maner in Bihar, is heard in the clip expressing outrage when the panchayat secretary, tasked with issuing a death certificate for one Rinki Devi, did not identify him. The voice on the tape, believed to be that of Virendra, questioned the official’s ignorance, declaring that he was well known across the country and should not need an introduction. The MLA’s tone quickly turned aggressive as he threatened to strike the secretary with a shoe and warned of dire consequences, including job loss and transfers.
Despite the threats, the panchayat secretary remained calm and firm, asserting his willingness to communicate respectfully if the MLA did the same. He emphasized that the requested certificate was already being processed and urged the politician to refrain from making personal threats. The confrontation escalated, with the MLA questioning the official's legitimacy and origins, suggesting that not knowing the local legislator was a dereliction of duty.
