A rare display of camaraderie as Digvijaya Singh is escorted to the stage by Jyotiraditya Scindia

At the inauguration ceremony of Shrewsbury International School in Bhopal, an unexpected yet heartwarming interaction unfolded between Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, creating quite a buzz on social media. The event, hosted by the Jagran Social Welfare Society, saw Scindia as the chief guest. As he looked out at the audience from the stage, he noticed the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijaya Singh, seated in the front row next to his wife, Amrita.

Scindia promptly stepped down from the stage and walked up to greet Singh. Expressing regret for not having acknowledged him earlier, Scindia clasped Singh’s hand and respectfully escorted him up to the dais to join the other dignitaries. The audience responded with a warm round of applause for the gesture, which was seen as a significant moment of mutual respect despite their political differences.

A video capturing this moment of goodwill quickly spread across various social media platforms. It showcased Scindia guiding Singh to the stage, a scene made more notable due to their long-standing political rivalry. Scindia, who began his political journey in 2002 following the tragic death of his father, Madhavrao Scindia, in a plane crash, was once a prominent Congress figure before switching allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2020. This rare and cordial encounter between two influential leaders with a complex political past highlighted a moment of grace that stood apart from the usual partisan divisions.
