A toddler at a daycare in Noida is shown on camera being beaten and having bite marks on their body

A shocking incident of child abuse has surfaced in Noida, where a 15-month-old girl was brutally assaulted by a maid at a daycare centre after she would not stop crying. The disturbing act, which was captured on CCTV, shows the child being slapped, bitten, thrown to the ground, and struck with a plastic bat.

According to initial reports, the assault took place on August 4. The toddler’s mother brought her home from the day care and noticed she was crying uncontrollably. While changing her clothes, the mother spotted circular marks on both thighs, prompting her to consult a doctor. The doctor confirmed that the marks were consistent with human bites.

The accused, a minor, reportedly told police that she loved the child and her actions were out of affection — a claim authorities are treating with grave concern. The parents, suspicious of the injuries, reviewed the day care’s CCTV footage, which revealed the full extent of the abuse. In the video, the nanny can be seen initially attempting to soothe the crying child, but soon loses patience. She dropped the toddler onto the floor, slapped her repeatedly, and handled her aggressively.

The parents further alleged that the head of the day care not only failed to intervene but also displayed apathy towards the child’s suffering. They claimed that when confronted, both the maid and the day care head used abusive language and even issued threats.

Following the complaint, the Sector-142 police registered a case, conducted a medical examination of the toddler, and took the accused into custody. “A case has been registered under relevant legal provisions. The accused has been apprehended, and due legal procedures are in progress,” a police official stated.

Authorities are now investigating how a minor came to be employed at the daycare and are also scrutinizing the legitimacy of the centre’s operational license. The case has triggered outrage among parents and child rights advocates, who are demanding strict action to prevent such incidents in the future.
