Adani Airports plans to expand in Lucknow with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore

Adani Airports has unveiled plans to invest ₹10,000 crore to expand Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), with the investment to be executed in phases, focusing on capacity enhancement, facility modernisation, adoption of new technology, and upgraded cargo infrastructure.

The company has already invested ₹2,401 crore in constructing a new terminal and landside road network. Currently, the airport handles 8 million passengers annually. By 2026–27, the capacity is expected to rise to 14 million passengers with the completion of Terminal 3, Phase 2, backed by an additional ₹900 crore investment.

An Adani Airports official highlighted plans to implement “swing operations,” allowing the use of common facilities for both international and domestic flights during peak periods, aiming to improve passenger experience through modernisation, technology, and cultural elements.

Presently, the airport features seven operational aerobridges, accommodates Type D aircraft, and offers parking for up to 15 planes simultaneously. Lucknow’s connectivity has grown to 42 direct routes, including 31 domestic and 11 international destinations, with international travelers comprising about 19% of total traffic. The airport also contributes roughly 4% to Uttar Pradesh’s GDP.

In addition to passenger services, Adani Airports is targeting 50,000 metric tonnes of cargo capacity over the next five years and plans to introduce new international routes, such as direct flights to Vietnam and Singapore. This expansion aligns with Adani Airports’ long-term vision of establishing Lucknow as a major aviation hub in Uttar Pradesh, supporting growth in both passenger and cargo operations.
