Three people tragically lost their lives while eight others sustained injuries after several gunmen opened fire inside a Crown Heights restaurant in the early hours of Sunday, according to a report published by The New York Times. The violent incident took place just before 3:30 a.m. inside Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue, as confirmed by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch during a press briefing. Authorities revealed that a total of eleven people were targeted in the attack, including eight men and three women.
Among the deceased, two male victims have been identified as a 27-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, while the identity and age of the third person who died are yet to be confirmed. The surviving eight victims were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, though the police have not released details regarding the extent or seriousness of their injuries.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the suspects remain at large. Investigators reported that multiple shooters were involved in the attack and confirmed that at least thirty-six shell casings were recovered from the crime scene, highlighting the scale of gunfire unleashed. Taste of the City Lounge, which began operations in 2022, is known for serving American and Caribbean cuisine while also offering a full bar, hookah services, and live DJ entertainment. Situated less than half a mile away from the Brooklyn Museum, the lounge reportedly shut its doors at around 3:00 a.m., shortly before the tragic gunfire erupted, turning what should have been a regular night out into a scene of devastation.
