He is unreachable even by the mayor: Thrissur MP Suresh Gopi is allegedly "missing" according to a complaint

A police complaint has been filed against Union Minister and Thrissur MP Suresh Gopi, alleging that he has been “missing” from his constituency for the past two months. The complaint, lodged with Thrissur East police by Kerala Students Union (KSU) district president Gokul Guruvayur, claims that the minister has not been seen locally since the arrest of two Malayali nuns in Chhattisgarh — a case he had earlier described as fabricated.

Guruvayur alleged that neither the public nor local leaders, including Thrissur Mayor and Minister K Rajan, have been able to contact Gopi, despite repeated attempts to invite him to inaugurate a central government project in the city. He claimed that even the minister’s office staff could not confirm his whereabouts or expected return. According to him, this unexplained absence marks a sharp contrast to Gopi’s previous public engagements, such as visiting Christian homes during Christmas to distribute cakes.

The KSU leader said the complaint was filed as a symbolic protest and accused Gopi of remaining silent on key issues, including the Chhattisgarh nuns’ arrest and allegations of voter list manipulation. He claimed that the minister’s absence has raised concerns across political lines, including among BJP workers. The student wing of the Congress has also announced plans to launch a campaign against him, warning of intensified protests unless he addresses the matter.

Suresh Gopi, a well-known actor-turned-politician, is the first and only BJP MP from Kerala.
