Keralan serial killer? Blood, charred bones, and women's belongings discovered at a man's house

A disturbing case of suspected serial killings is unfolding in Kerala’s Alappuzha district, where 68-year-old Sebastian C.M. is being investigated for multiple disappearances and possible murders. Already facing charges for the murder of a woman named Jainamma, Sebastian has now come under scrutiny for his possible involvement in the vanishing of at least two other women.

The case against Sebastian began with a missing person’s complaint filed by Jainamma’s husband, Appachan. A police search of Sebastian’s residence in Pallippuram near Cherthala uncovered alarming evidence — nearly 20 human bone fragments, blood stains, women’s garments, and personal items such as a handbag and teeth. These findings have been sent for DNA analysis, as authorities try to piece together whether they belong to one or more victims.

Sebastian’s alleged pattern appears to involve targeting women who lived alone or were socially marginalized, making their disappearances less likely to trigger immediate suspicion. This profile has led investigators to revisit two older cases — Bindu Padmanabhan, who disappeared in 2006, and Ayesha, who went missing in 2012. Both cases had seen limited progress, but now, with the new developments, Crime Branch teams from Kottayam and Alappuzha are actively re-investigating them.

In light of these revelations, a local action council that has long been seeking justice for Bindu is demanding the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to handle all related cases. They also raised the possibility of Sebastian having accomplices, a question that has deepened public anxiety.

As forensic teams analyze the materials retrieved from Sebastian’s property and police expand their inquiries, the case continues to evoke shock across the region. Authorities are preparing for the possibility that more victims and evidence may yet be discovered, as the investigation into what increasingly resembles a serial murder case pushes forward.
