Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan strongly rejected the notion of India being labeled a “dead economy,” a phrase once coined by former US President Donald Trump. Instead, he asserted that India is not just alive but rapidly thriving, choosing to describe it as a “Long Live Economy.” According to him, India’s remarkable economic momentum reflects strength, dynamism, and resilience that are capturing attention on the global stage.
Chouhan specifically highlighted the impressive economic performance during the April–June quarter of the financial year 2026, when the country’s economy recorded a robust 7.8 percent growth rate. This figure, he emphasized, was not an accident but the outcome of a deliberate combination of visionary leadership, carefully crafted policymaking, and resolute implementation of development-oriented strategies. He noted that when leaders demonstrate firmness, policies remain well-calibrated, and decisions are guided by foresight, the results have the potential to create milestones in history.
The minister further stressed that India’s achievements cannot be attributed to governance alone but are the collective result of the hard work and commitment of its 1.4 billion citizens. He drew particular attention to the agricultural sector, which has shown extraordinary resilience and growth in recent times. Describing agriculture’s contribution as “unprecedented,” he revealed that the sector has recorded 3.7 percent growth—an outcome made possible by farmers’ relentless efforts, their determination to embrace innovation, and the support of scientists driving new technologies. Chouhan called this moment one of immense pride for the farming community, recognizing their role as the backbone of the nation’s progress.
Reinforcing India’s forward-looking aspirations, Chouhan remarked that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving steadily toward its long-term vision of becoming a fully developed nation. His comments arrive at a crucial juncture when global economies are grappling with uncertainties, making India’s steady and rapid growth even more significant. By underlining India’s performance, he sought to send a clear message of confidence in the nation’s strength, its people’s determination, and its promising future on the international stage.
