A Chattisgarh power official was arrested after being caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh

A senior official of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh. The accused, Vijay Dubey, serving as Deputy General Manager (DGM), was caught red-handed in a sting operation conducted by the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The case arose from a complaint by a local resident whose ancestral land had been acquired by NTPC for a project. While the resident had already received Rs 14 lakh as compensation for his property, an additional Rs 16 lakh was still pending. According to the complaint, Dubey demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to release the pending amount.

Following the complaint, the ACB arranged a sting operation. On Tuesday, Dubey was apprehended while accepting Rs 4.5 lakh from the complainant. Authorities confirmed that the entire amount was recovered from his possession. The arrest underscores ongoing vigilance by anti-corruption authorities in monitoring misuse of official power during compensation settlements.
