Customs officials in Kerala have launched a widespread operation, carrying out inspections at several locations, including the Kochi residences of popular actors Dulquer Salmaan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The operation, codenamed “Operation Numkhor”—with Numkhor meaning “vehicle” in Bhutanese—is focused on vehicles suspected to have been brought into the state through illegal channels.
According to reports, the operation targets a racket in which middlemen allegedly import vehicles from Bhutan using fake registrations to evade hefty taxes before selling them locally. As part of the ongoing probe, officials are scrutinising vehicles owned by the actors to verify their compliance with registration and tax regulations.
Parallel checks are also being conducted in Kozhikode, expanding the scope of the investigation across multiple districts. Authorities have not yet released full details, but further information is expected as the operation progresses.
