A shocking accident in Jodhpur has drawn wide attention after CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. The video captures the moment a 25-year-old man, identified as Nazir, lost his balance and fell from the second-floor balcony of a building where he was working. The fall left him with a fractured leg and other serious injuries.
According to reports, the incident occurred on September 9 at around 4:30 pm. Nazir was on the upper floor of a commercial building that houses both a paan shop and a textile store. While taking a break and drinking water, he was seen holding a bottle in his hand when he suddenly slipped and fell backward off the balcony.
In what could have been a fatal accident, Nazir’s fall was partially cushioned by a scooter parked directly beneath the building. The vehicle absorbed much of the impact, likely sparing him from life-threatening head injuries. Eyewitnesses and locals later rushed to his aid and arranged for immediate medical assistance.
The video, which surfaced online a few days later, has sparked discussions about the lack of basic safety measures in many older urban structures. Open balconies without guardrails, poorly maintained staircases, and narrow passageways pose daily risks for workers and residents alike. The incident has become a stark reminder of the urgent need to enforce building safety norms in crowded marketplaces and residential areas.
Nazir is now recovering from his injuries, though doctors have confirmed that his fractured leg will require several weeks of rest and rehabilitation. For many, his survival is being seen as a stroke of luck, as the presence of the scooter turned what could have been a tragedy into a painful but recoverable accident.
