Elon Musk has publicly dismissed references to him in newly released documents from the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, which alleged a potential visit by Musk to Epstein’s private island in 2014. Musk claimed that the Democratic Party and allied media outlets were targeting him because they perceive him as a threat, asserting that he exposes corruption, challenges prevailing narratives, and provides a platform for free speech through X. Hours earlier, Musk had posted a brief three-word statement on social media, “This is false,” directly refuting the media reports linking him to Epstein’s estate.
The release of thousands of documents from Epstein’s estate, partially disclosed by Democratic members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, included flight logs, financial records, daily schedules, and phone messages spanning nearly three decades of Epstein’s activities. Among the materials was an itinerary suggesting a possible visit by Musk to Epstein’s private estate in the US Virgin Islands in December 2014. Other prominent figures mentioned in the records included entrepreneur Peter Thiel and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, revealing planned meetings and interactions with Epstein over the years.
Democratic members of the committee emphasised Epstein’s continued influence among powerful circles, noting financial ledgers detailing payments for “massages” linked to Prince Andrew and flight logs showing extensive travel by Epstein, his aide Ghislaine Maxwell, and others dating back to 2000. Maxwell remains imprisoned for sex trafficking minors. Committee spokesperson Sara Guerrero highlighted that every newly released document sheds further light on Epstein’s connections, underscoring the need for justice for his victims and survivors.
Republicans on the committee, however, criticised the Democrats for releasing the information unilaterally, alleging political bias and selective disclosure. Many documents remain heavily redacted to protect the privacy of victims, and further releases are expected. Beyond Musk, the disclosures have renewed public interest in Epstein’s network, including meetings with Thiel and Bannon, as well as his connections to other high-profile individuals such as Prince Andrew and Bill Gates. The documents also reignited attention to former President Donald Trump’s past association with Epstein, recalling Trump’s 2002 remark calling Epstein a “terrific guy.” The ongoing review of the files continues to raise questions about the broader implications of Epstein’s ties to global elites.
