On his 75th birthday, PM Modi honors Mohan Bhagwat as a symbol of harmony and social transformation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended warm greetings to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on the occasion of his 75th birthday, hailing him as a leader who has devoted his life to social transformation and fostering harmony. In his message on X, Modi described Bhagwat as someone who truly embodies the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the belief that the whole world is one family. He also wished Bhagwat a long and healthy life in service to the nation.

To mark the occasion, the Prime Minister also wrote an op-ed reflecting on Bhagwat’s journey and contributions. He recalled Bhagwat’s early years as a pracharak, his organisational responsibilities in Vidarbha, and his eventual rise to the role of Sarsanghchalak. Modi highlighted how Bhagwat has steered the RSS through periods of change while staying rooted in its core ideology, balancing tradition with adaptation to contemporary challenges.

The Prime Minister further underlined Bhagwat’s outreach and guidance during critical junctures in India’s recent history, including the Emergency and the Covid-19 pandemic. Modi’s tribute comes at a time when the RSS is commemorating its centenary year, making the occasion even more significant.
