A tragic incident in Odisha has stirred suspicion and grief after a young man, identified as Biswajit Behera, lost his life due to electrocution while visiting his girlfriend’s residence. The circumstances surrounding his death have now become the subject of a police investigation, especially after his family alleged foul play and claimed he was deliberately lured to the house.
According to reports, Biswajit had gone to meet his girlfriend following an invitation from her. To enter the premises, he reportedly jumped over the boundary wall, where he came into direct contact with a live electric wire. He collapsed immediately after the shock. Family members quickly rushed him to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival, adding to the grief and confusion surrounding the incident.
The case escalated further when Biswajit’s family accused the girlfriend’s relatives of being involved in his death. Acting on their formal complaint, the Sadar police registered a case under number 403 and launched an investigation. The Superintendent of Police confirmed that while initial findings suggest electrocution, the possibility of foul play cannot be ruled out until the inquiry is complete. He noted that the incident occurred late on September 28, but the family’s allegation of murder has added a complex layer to the probe.
Biswajit’s grandfather, Trilochan Behera, revealed that the young man had initially asked a friend to accompany him on the visit. However, when the friend declined, Biswajit went alone. Later that evening, the friend received a distress call from Biswajit’s girlfriend, claiming that a crowd had gathered behind her house. On reaching the spot, the friend found Biswajit lying motionless on the farmland, entangled in an electric wire. In a desperate attempt to save him, the friend also suffered an electric shock, though he survived.
The grandfather has publicly alleged that his grandson was intentionally lured into the situation and demanded justice, insisting that the truth behind the incident must be uncovered. The police are now carefully examining the sequence of events, the role of those involved, and the possibility of deliberate action leading to the tragedy. The investigation remains ongoing, with the authorities promising a thorough probe to establish the exact cause of Biswajit’s death.
