Three people were detained after a Noida lady was forced to convert to Islam and married off in Chennai

Police in Noida have uncovered a disturbing case involving the alleged forced religious conversion and fraudulent marriage of a 28-year-old woman, who is also the mother of a six-year-old child. Authorities have arrested three individuals, including the prime accused, Raja Mian alias Ehsan, who stands at the centre of the crime. The incident came to light after the woman’s mother filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court, pleading for her daughter’s recovery. Acting on the court’s directive, investigators tracked the woman to Chennai, from where she was safely brought back to Noida.

According to officials, Raja Mian allegedly manipulated and lured the woman into a relationship before coercing her into adopting Islam. Following the forced conversion, her name was changed, and she was subjected to a nikah (Islamic marriage ceremony). Police revealed that this marriage was solemnised through forged documentation, even though the woman was still legally married to her husband and had not gone through any lawful divorce proceedings.

The First Information Report (FIR) highlights that this was not the work of one man alone but rather a family-supported conspiracy. Raja Mian’s mother allegedly pretended to be the victim’s aunt, while his brother posed as her brother to help orchestrate the fraudulent marriage. A local cleric further aided the crime by preparing a forged nikahnama (marriage contract), providing an illusion of legitimacy to the forced union.

Following the complaint, police registered a case against five individuals—Raja Mian, his father, mother, brother, and the cleric. As of now, Raja Mian, along with his father and mother, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. However, his brother and the cleric remain at large and are currently being pursued by law enforcement authorities.

The case has sparked outrage and renewed discussions about forced conversions and fraudulent marriages, with officials stressing that the investigation is ongoing. Police are determined to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy, ensure accountability for all those involved, and provide justice to the victim and her family.
