Watch as the president of Indonesia concludes his remarks to the UN General Assembly with Om Shanti

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto addressed the 80th UN General Assembly, urging global peace, justice, and equality while warning that “human folly, fuelled by fear, racism, hatred, oppression, and apartheid, threatens our common future.” Emphasizing action over rhetoric, he highlighted Indonesia’s readiness to deploy 20,000 or more personnel to help secure peace in Gaza or elsewhere, underscoring the country’s role as a leading contributor to UN peacekeeping forces.

Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for a two-state solution, calling for both Palestine and Israel to coexist independently, safely, and free from terrorism. He condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza, stressing that aggression only begets more violence, and called on the international community to take decisive steps to prevent an escalation into prolonged conflicts.

Highlighting interfaith harmony, he envisioned Arabs, Jews, Muslims, and Christians living together in reconciliation and peace. Concluding his 19-minute speech, Subianto invoked the Sanskrit mantra “Om Shanti, Shanti Om” and offered the interfaith greeting, “Shalom, Salve, Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Om,” symbolizing his message of unity and harmony amid global uncertainties.
