When her two-year-old daughter became a romantic obstacle, the woman and her lover killed her

In a deeply disturbing incident from Telangana, police revealed that a two-year-old girl was brutally murdered by her own mother and her lover in Medak district’s Shebashpalli village. According to the authorities, the shocking crime came to light only after the child’s grandfather, troubled by her sudden disappearance, lodged a missing persons complaint with the police. Investigations led to a horrifying revelation—Mamatha, the mother of the child, and her paramour, Fayaz, had allegedly taken the girl’s life, viewing her as an “obstacle” to their illicit relationship. In a desperate attempt to conceal their act, the accused buried the toddler near a stream on the outskirts of the village.

Once the complaint was filed, the police launched an extensive probe that quickly pointed to the involvement of Mamatha and Fayaz. The pair was eventually tracked down to Narasaraopet in Andhra Pradesh, where they had fled in an effort to escape suspicion. They were subsequently brought back to Medak for questioning. During interrogation, both suspects allegedly admitted to the crime, confessing that the child’s presence hindered their relationship and drove them to commit the heinous act. Acting on their disclosure, police exhumed the decomposed remains of the young girl from the burial site in the presence of officials and forensic experts. The case remains under active investigation as authorities gather more evidence to build a strong prosecution.

Tragically, this is not the only such heartbreaking case to emerge in recent days. In an unrelated incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district, a 29-year-old woman, identified as Tej Kumari alias Maya, allegedly strangled her three children before ending her own life. The tragedy unfolded earlier this week in Tikri town, where Maya is believed to have taken the extreme step following repeated quarrels with her husband, Vikas Kashyap. Reports suggest that Maya was distressed over her husband’s neglect, his unwillingness to speak to her, and his refusal to send their children to a private school, issues that had repeatedly sparked family disputes.

The victims of this second incident were three young girls, aged just four months, two years, and seven years. On the night of the tragedy, Maya’s husband, who works as a Delhi-based tourist bus operator, was reportedly asleep outside under a tree when the crime took place. Neighbours later grew suspicious and alerted the authorities. When police arrived, they forcibly entered the home and discovered the lifeless bodies of the three children lying on a cot, while Maya herself was found hanging from the ceiling fan. The shocking scene sent waves of grief through the local community.

Police promptly sent all four bodies for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact sequence of events and confirm the cause of death. Officials have since launched an investigation into the case to determine the full circumstances that led to this devastating act. Both cases—one rooted in betrayal and illicit love, the other in despair and domestic discord—have raised alarm about the increasing frequency of such family tragedies, underscoring the urgent need for stronger social support systems and interventions to prevent vulnerable individuals from resorting to violence.
