An Indian man is arrested after abusing a crowd and threatening police on a street in Bangkok

Police noted that the suspect appeared disoriented and confused during questioning, reinforcing suspicions that his erratic behavior was drug-induced. Medical personnel were called to assess his mental and physical state, and Thadani was placed under observation at a local hospital before formal charges were finalized.

Local authorities urged the public to remain calm in similar situations and highlighted the importance of distinguishing between real firearms and replica objects to prevent unnecessary panic. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses and street cameras is being reviewed to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the arrest.

Thai police also coordinated with the Indian embassy in Bangkok to notify consular officials of Thadani’s detention, ensuring he receives appropriate legal and diplomatic assistance. The embassy confirmed it would provide support and monitor the case, especially regarding the charges under Thai law.

Investigators are examining whether any prior incidents involved Thadani and are seeking to determine if the episode was an isolated occurrence or part of a pattern of unusual behavior. Authorities have cautioned that if found culpable, he could face significant penalties under Thailand’s public safety and drug-influence statutes.

Meanwhile, local businesses and pedestrians in Siam Square reported lingering unease after the incident, prompting authorities to temporarily increase patrols in the area to reassure residents and tourists of safety.
