Farooq Abdullah, the former chief minister of J&K, is stable and in the hospital in Srinagar

Farooq Abdullah, aged 87, who has served as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and is currently the president of the National Conference, has been admitted to a private hospital in Srinagar following health complications. According to party officials, Abdullah had been feeling unwell for several days before developing an abdominal infection earlier this week. The infection, which was detected on Tuesday, prompted his immediate hospitalization for medical attention and treatment.

Sources within the National Conference mentioned that his health had been deteriorating slightly over the past few days, which raised concern among his family and party colleagues. However, they assured that his condition has since shown noticeable improvement under the supervision of the medical team. The doctors attending to him have expressed optimism about his recovery and have indicated that he may be discharged from the hospital either later today or by tomorrow if his progress continues at the same pace.

Farooq Abdullah’s health has been a matter of public attention over the years, particularly due to his past medical history. In December 2014, he underwent a successful kidney transplant, after which he gradually returned to active political life. Despite his advanced age and recurring health issues, Abdullah has remained a significant figure in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape, continuing to lead the National Conference and voice his opinions on key regional and national matters.

His hospitalization has drawn concern and well-wishes from political leaders and supporters across the country. Many have expressed relief at reports of his improving condition and have conveyed hopes for his speedy recovery. Abdullah’s enduring influence in politics, combined with his long-standing service to the state, has made his well-being a matter of great interest not only for his party but for the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well.
