Is he in good mental health? The 'bizarre antics' of Nitish Kumar are highlighted in the video by Tejashwi Yadav

Bihar’s political landscape witnessed another heated moment as RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav renewed his attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, openly questioning his mental stability and fitness to govern. In a sharp post on X, Yadav shared a video that quickly gained traction online, showing Nitish Kumar’s seemingly confused gestures during a virtual event. “How does it feel to see the Chief Minister of a state in such a pathetic condition? Does he appear mentally healthy to you?” Yadav asked, sparking a fresh wave of political controversy across the state.

The video in question was recorded during the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh 2025, where the Chief Minister appeared via video conference to interact with ITI toppers from across the country. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed out certificates to the achievers, Nitish Kumar was seen greeting participants with folded hands multiple times on screen — behaviour that Yadav described as “bizarre and concerning.” The opposition leader went further, suggesting the possibility of foul play, alleging that “his party’s BJP allies may have deliberately caused his condition by feeding him prasad or food items under some pretext.”

The allegations add fuel to ongoing speculation about Nitish Kumar’s erratic behaviour, which has been the subject of political debate and media attention in recent months. With assembly elections approaching, concerns over his health and leadership have become a major talking point, with opposition parties seizing every opportunity to question his capacity to lead effectively.

Amid the controversy, Yadav also addressed broader electoral concerns, calling for a fair and transparent election process in Bihar. “Our party’s representatives have submitted their views. We hope this time the elections will be fair. Democracy belongs to the people, and elections should be conducted in a good and transparent environment,” he stated.

These remarks came shortly after a crucial meeting between political representatives and the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Senior election officials, including Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, Vivek Joshi, and Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjyal, discussed strategies to ensure fair polling across Bihar.

The ECI urged parties to appoint polling agents in every booth and promote peaceful voter participation, calling the election a “festival of democracy.” Several political groups praised the commission for its stringent reforms — such as maintaining a cap of 1,200 voters per polling station and updating electoral rolls — while also requesting that elections be held immediately after the Chhath festival and preferably in fewer phases to boost voter turnout.

As the state prepares for the upcoming polls, Yadav’s pointed remarks and Nitish Kumar’s recent public appearances have intensified Bihar’s political atmosphere, setting the stage for a high-stakes electoral battle that could reshape the state’s leadership narrative.
