The UP After a fight, a lady strangles her husband to death; the role of daughters is examined

A shocking case of domestic violence and alleged murder has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district, where a woman has been arrested for allegedly strangling her husband to death, reportedly with the help of her two daughters. The incident occurred in Mundia Khurd village under the jurisdiction of Bilaspur police station. According to authorities, the crime was the result of escalating family tensions, rooted in constant quarrels over the husband’s strict restrictions on the behavior and freedom of his wife and daughters.

Police sources confirmed that the victim, identified as Vijendra, had been living with his wife and five children, two of whom are adult daughters. His brother, Joginder, lodged a formal complaint with the police, stating that frequent disputes within the family had taken a violent turn. He claimed that Vijendra often reprimanded his wife and daughters over their activities and lifestyle choices, which led to heated altercations inside the household.

In his statement, Joginder recounted a recent incident that escalated the family tensions. He said, “My brother found a mobile phone with his daughters and scolded them. Both daughters, along with their mother, became angry and started beating him. They dragged him away despite villagers trying to intervene.” He further alleged that the next morning, he discovered his brother lying lifeless, with his hands and feet tied and a rope wound around his torso. The sight of the body shocked the entire village, prompting immediate calls for police intervention.

Following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and conducted a post-mortem examination, which confirmed that Vijendra died due to strangulation. The evidence pointed towards foul play, leading to the arrest of his wife, who reportedly confessed to the murder during interrogation. However, authorities have not yet determined the exact role of the daughters in the act, though they remain prime suspects in the ongoing inquiry.

“The wife and both daughters were involved,” Joginder reiterated in his statement, emphasizing that the local police initially failed to act despite multiple complaints from the family. He added that only after pressure from the villagers did the police register a formal case and begin the investigation.

Rampur Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh confirmed that the wife had been taken into custody and sent to jail after her confession. “The post-mortem confirmed strangulation as the cause of death. The wife admitted to killing her husband following continuous disputes. The daughters’ involvement is still being investigated,” Singh said.

Preliminary findings suggest that the murder stemmed from long-standing domestic friction. Investigators believe that the victim’s attempts to impose strict control over his family’s actions, particularly over his daughters’ social behavior, fueled resentment that ultimately led to violence. Authorities also revealed that a major altercation had occurred two days before Vijendra’s death, possibly serving as the immediate trigger for the crime.

Police are continuing their inquiry to gather more evidence and determine whether the daughters played an active role or acted under their mother’s influence. As the investigation proceeds, the case has drawn attention to the deeper issue of domestic strife in rural households — where control, mistrust, and patriarchal conflict often lead to tragic outcomes.
