Video: A man from Uttar Pradesh was saved after plunging into a river and becoming entangled in water hyacinths

A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district was rescued after jumping into a river in an apparent suicide attempt, but getting trapped in dense water hyacinths. The incident occurred on Friday morning in Fatehpur Chaurasi, where 35-year-old Suresh leapt from a bridge following a family dispute. Instead of drowning, he became entangled in the thick vegetation floating on the river’s surface.

Local residents who witnessed the incident quickly organized a rescue effort. Using ropes, they lowered a young volunteer from the bridge, who managed to tie another rope around Suresh. After several minutes of coordinated effort, the group pulled him safely to the bank before police arrived.

Suresh was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed he was out of danger. Police said he had been deeply distressed over ongoing family problems. Speaking after his rescue, Suresh admitted he had lost hope and jumped into the river but found himself stuck in shallow water surrounded by hyacinths, which ultimately saved his life.
