When an Agra man celebrates Karwa Chauth with two wives, people notice the dramatic photos

An unusual yet heartwarming celebration of Karwa Chauth in Agra has caught public attention, as a man’s two wives observed the festival together in a rare display of harmony and mutual respect. The incident took place in the Etmaduddaula area, where Ram Babu Nishad, a resident of Nagla Bihari, joined his two wives — Sheela and Mannu Devi — for the annual ritual of fasting and prayer. The family’s unique celebration, captured in a series of photographs, quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread curiosity and debate.

Karwa Chauth, a traditional festival observed by married women across North India, involves fasting from sunrise to moonrise for the long life and prosperity of their husbands. However, in this rare case, both of Ram Babu’s wives performed the rituals side by side. The photographs show Sheela and Mannu Devi sitting together during the evening puja, gazing at the moon through a sieve, and later breaking their fast by drinking water from their husband’s hands — a symbolic gesture of devotion and love.

What made the moment stand out was not just its visual novelty but the story behind it. Ram Babu married his first wife, Sheela Devi, nearly a decade ago, and the couple has children together. Some years later, he developed a relationship with another woman, Mannu Devi. When the relationship came to light, rather than leading to conflict or separation, it resulted in an unexpected understanding within the household. According to locals, Sheela chose not to oppose the union, and Ram Babu went on to formally marry Mannu Devi in a temple ceremony.

Speaking about their relationship, Ram Babu explained that peace and affection form the foundation of their family’s coexistence. “Where there is love, there is no place for quarrel,” he said, adding that both his wives share a respectful bond and manage the household together.

The images of the family performing the ritual together — both wives fasting for the same husband and breaking the fast in unison — have stirred mixed reactions online. While some viewers praised the trio for their maturity, understanding, and sense of togetherness, others expressed surprise at such an unconventional arrangement.

Despite the unconventional nature of the relationship, the family’s Karwa Chauth celebration highlighted an unusual example of coexistence built on trust and mutual respect. As the story continues to circulate across social media, it stands as a reminder that love, in all its forms, can sometimes defy tradition and expectation — and still find harmony.
