President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s firm stance against “Taiwan independence” and foreign interference during a reception at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, held to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. He emphasized that safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity remains a top priority, while encouraging deeper exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.
Xi, who also serves as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks following a ceremony at Tiananmen Square commemorating Martyrs’ Day, honoring fallen national heroes ahead of National Day. The week-long National Day holiday also coincides with the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression during World War II.
In his address, Xi highlighted the achievements of the country over the past 76 years, noting that the CPC’s leadership has driven progress through a spirit of self-reliance and relentless effort. He called on the nation to continue working with determination toward Chinese modernization and the “great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,” describing the journey as both a historic aspiration and a challenge that requires perseverance and unwavering vigor.
Xi’s remarks underscore China’s continued prioritization of national unity, territorial integrity, and the central role of the Communist Party in guiding the country through both domestic and international challenges.
