Following a barrage of threats, an FBI team protects Alexis Wilkins, Kash Patel's girlfriend

The FBI has confirmed that country singer Alexis Wilkins, who has been in a long-term relationship with FBI Director Kash Patel, is now under federal protection after receiving an unusually large volume of death threats. According to the bureau, Wilkins has faced hundreds of credible threats specifically tied to her relationship with Patel, prompting officials to assign her a dedicated security detail. The FBI declined to provide operational specifics, citing concerns for her safety.

Wilkins, 27, is being protected by highly trained FBI agents normally assigned to the Nashville field office’s SWAT team. These personnel typically handle critical, high-risk situations such as mass-casualty threats or counterterror missions. Their reassignment to guard a private citizen has raised internal questions about whether bureau resources are being diverted from urgent law-enforcement needs. Former and current officials told reporters that they were unaware of any instance where the romantic partner of a senior FBI official—particularly someone not sharing a household with the official—received this level of protective coverage. Historically, limited security support has only been extended to a director’s spouse while traveling with them or living under the same roof.

Patel and Wilkins have been together since 2023 but maintain separate residences, with Patel based in Las Vegas and Wilkins working largely out of Nashville due to her music career. She accompanied Patel earlier this year at his swearing-in ceremony but does not share government duties or privileges that would normally justify a protective detail.

The revelation arrives amid broader criticism of how Patel manages bureau assets. Critics recently accused him of misusing an FBI aircraft—worth tens of millions of dollars—by flying to Pennsylvania to watch Wilkins sing the national anthem at a collegiate wrestling event. Political commentators and former agents derided the alleged trip as a taxpayer-funded personal outing. Patel strongly rejected those claims, calling them malicious fabrications aimed at undermining his credibility. In public statements, he condemned the attacks on his private life and criticised allies for failing to defend him.

Wilkins, meanwhile, is pursuing her own legal fights. She has filed multiple $5 million defamation suits against prominent right-wing influencers who circulated conspiracy theories painting her as a foreign intelligence operative sent to manipulate Patel. Her court filings state that these accusations are entirely false and have inflicted serious harm on her career and personal reputation. The lawsuits highlight the increasingly hostile media climate surrounding Patel’s tenure, where personal and professional narratives have begun to merge into a politically charged controversy.
