A devastating road accident in Maharashtra’s Jalna district claimed two lives and left one person fighting for survival after a powerful head-on collision between an Eicher truck and a container truck in the early hours of the morning. The crash occurred on the Ghansawangi road near Kumbhar Pimpalgaon in Padoli Shivaar, a stretch known for its narrow width and heavy vehicular movement. The force of the impact was so intense that both vehicles were crushed at the front, leaving the drivers trapped inside the mangled cabins.
According to preliminary information, the Eicher truck was transporting tomatoes from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on its way to Pune, while the container truck was carrying fodder from Nanded toward Gujarat. Both were travelling in opposite directions when they collided directly on a constricted portion of the road. The driver of the Eicher truck and his cleaner died instantly as the cabins collapsed under the force. The driver of the container truck survived the crash but sustained life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated with considerable effort by locals who rushed to the spot after hearing the crash.
Residents of the surrounding area were the first to begin rescue efforts, pulling at the twisted metal, alerting police officials, and arranging immediate transport for the injured driver to a nearby hospital. Police teams arrived soon after, securing the accident site and shifting the bodies to the district hospital for post-mortem examination. Officers said that the identities of the deceased were still being verified.
A formal investigation has begun to determine what caused both vehicles to drift into each other’s path. Officials are examining whether excessive speed, driver fatigue, low visibility, or the narrow condition of the road played a role in the tragedy. The accident site has been cordoned off as recovery teams work to move the wreckage, and traffic has slowed significantly along the route while clearance operations continue.
