Two days after a teacher was brutally shot dead inside the Aligarh Muslim University campus, disturbing CCTV footage has surfaced showing the attackers firing repeatedly at the victim even after he had fallen to the ground. The video, which has since gone viral, captures the chilling moments of the crime and has sent shockwaves across the academic community and beyond.
In the footage, one of the assailants can be seen crouching down and firing multiple shots at close range, deliberately aiming at the teacher’s head before fleeing the scene. Nearly six gunshots can be clearly heard in the clip, which was recorded by a CCTV camera overlooking the AMU library canteen area, where the killing took place. The visuals show a calculated and cold-blooded attack, indicating that the assailants were determined to ensure the victim did not survive.
Earlier, India Today TV reported that one of the shooters had allegedly spoken to the victim moments before opening fire. According to sources, the attacker reportedly said, “Danish, now you will know me,” suggesting a personal motive behind the murder.
Police officials said the incident occurred around 9 pm near the library canteen, which falls under the Civil Lines police station area on the AMU campus. At the time of the attack, Rao Danish Ali was walking near the Kennedy Auditorium along with two colleagues when two unidentified men approached him. After a brief exchange, the assailants suddenly pulled out firearms and shot him at point-blank range.
Danish collapsed on the spot after being hit by multiple bullets. He was immediately rushed to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. According to those close to him, visiting the AMU canteen for tea was part of his daily routine, and the attack took place shortly after he had gone there that evening.
Following the shooting, senior police officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar, rushed to the scene. An alert was issued across the district, and multiple teams were formed to track down the attackers. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned to trace the movement of the suspects.
SP Mayank Pathak said that investigators are examining all possible angles, including personal rivalry or past enmity. He added that police are also questioning family members and associates of the victim to establish the motive behind the killing. Authorities have assured that the culprits will be identified and arrested soon.
However, even two days after the incident, the assailants remain at large, raising concerns over campus security and prompting demands for swift action and justice for the slain teacher.
