US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the announcement revealing which world leaders will join the newly formed Gaza Board of Peace is expected early next year. Speaking during an economic event in the White House’s Roosevelt Room, Trump said numerous global figures have expressed interest in serving on the board, which was created as part of a UN-backed plan supporting a fragile ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
According to Trump, “kings, presidents, prime ministers — they all want to be on the Board of Peace,” adding that the final list will be unveiled in the new year. He described the panel as potentially “one of the most legendary boards ever.”
The Gaza Board of Peace was formally authorised under a UN Security Council resolution passed on November 17. The measure, drafted by the United States, includes provisions for a temporary International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in Gaza, to be formed by countries working in conjunction with the board.
The resolution positions the Board of Peace as a transitional administrative body responsible for setting the overall framework and coordinating international funding for Gaza’s redevelopment, all in alignment with Trump’s 20-point peace plan. It also specifies that the board will operate only until the Palestinian Authority completes its reform programme and can effectively and securely resume control of Gaza.
