Bride requests for bulb on wedding night, scared groom vanishes; discovered after 5 days

Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut saw the dramatic conclusion of a five-day search when a groom who vanished on his wedding night was finally found alive in Haridwar. The family, who had spent days in fear and grief, learned that he had left home not because of any dispute but because he was overwhelmed by mental stress.

Mohsin had been married just five days earlier in Muzaffarnagar. On the night of the wedding, he entered the room where his bride was waiting. The bright lighting bothered her, so she asked him to get a smaller bulb. He stepped out of the room to buy one and never came back. Hours passed with no trace of him, and as panic grew, CCTV footage later showed him walking near the Ganga canal. Fearing that he may have fallen in, the police deployed PAC divers to search the waters.

The timing of his disappearance added to the distress at home — the next morning, his two sisters were scheduled to be married. With no news of Mohsin and his relatives sinking into despair, both weddings were conducted, but the atmosphere was filled with anxiety rather than celebration. No one could understand why he had fled from the newlywed bride and the family.

The breakthrough came on Monday when Mohsin called a relative from Haridwar and said he was safe. The information was immediately relayed to the police, and a team accompanied by family members rushed to bring him back. During questioning, Mohsin explained that he had suddenly become extremely nervous in front of his bride and felt emotionally overwhelmed. Experiencing intense mental stress, he walked away from the house without thinking and kept travelling until he reached Haridwar.

His sudden disappearance had caused days of emotional turmoil for the family, who had feared he might have drowned. His return finally ended the tension that had engulfed the household since the wedding night, and the police have now handed Mohsin over to his relatives.
