The Telangana government has approved a proposal to rename the major road that houses the US Consulate General in Hyderabad after former US President Donald Trump. Once the renaming process is completed, the stretch will officially be known as Donald Trump Avenue.
To proceed with the change, the state administration will formally communicate the plan to the Union Ministry of External Affairs as well as the US Embassy. The development aligns with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s earlier announcement at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in New Delhi, where he suggested naming significant roads in Hyderabad after leading global corporations and figures with strong international influence. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote Telangana as the face of innovation-centric India and to highlight Hyderabad’s global economic presence.
The renaming project extends beyond Donald Trump Avenue. The government is working on additional dedications to honour individuals and corporations that have contributed to India’s industrial and technological rise. A new Greenfield radial road connecting to the Nehru Outer Ring Road at Raviryala — along with the proposed Radial Ring Road — will be named after the late industrialist Ratan Tata. Earlier, the same interchange in Raviryala was renamed "Tata Interchange" as a tribute to his legacy.
Another high-visibility stretch in the city will soon be called Google Street, in recognition of the global importance of Google Maps and the company’s deep investment in Hyderabad, where its largest campus outside the United States is being built. Similar recognitions are in the pipeline for other tech giants — Microsoft Road and Wipro Junction are expected to become part of the city’s topography as well, reflecting the Chief Minister’s vision of showcasing Telangana as a global innovation hub.
