Indira is seen in Priyanka Gandhi: Robert Vadra supports the PM's wife

Amid claims by the BJP that the Congress leadership no longer has faith in Rahul Gandhi, his brother-in-law Robert Vadra on Tuesday voiced strong confidence in Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, suggesting that many people would like to see her become Prime Minister in the future and that such a possibility is only a matter of time.

Speaking to news agency PTI, Vadra said Priyanka Gandhi has a promising political future and the ability to bring about meaningful change at the grassroots level. He emphasised that her approach is not driven solely by her own ideas but is shaped by listening to people and incorporating their views. According to him, this inclusive style of leadership makes her rise in politics inevitable, though it will unfold gradually.

Vadra also said that Priyanka Gandhi enjoys widespread admiration and that people respond positively to what she says and stands for. He noted that she has learned a great deal from her political lineage, including her grandmother Indira Gandhi, her father Rajiv Gandhi, her mother Sonia Gandhi and her brother Rahul Gandhi. He added that when Priyanka speaks, she does so sincerely and addresses issues that genuinely matter, engaging in debates that people feel need to be heard.

His remarks were made in response to comments by Congress MP Imran Masood, who had said that Priyanka Gandhi, like her grandmother Indira Gandhi, would prove to be a strong Prime Minister. Masood made the statement while discussing the situation in Bangladesh, particularly the plight of Hindu minorities, and argued that Priyanka would act decisively in the national interest, much as Indira Gandhi had done in the past.

Meanwhile, the BJP stepped up its attack on Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, targeting his recent remarks made in Berlin. The party alleged that the Congress leader routinely speaks against India on foreign soil because he is unsettled by what it described as a growing lack of confidence in him within his own party and even among family members.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed that Rahul Gandhi is facing a “no-confidence” situation not only from the public but also from allies in the INDIA bloc, leaders within the Congress, and members of his own family. According to the BJP, these internal signals of dissent explain why Rahul Gandhi continues to criticise India abroad, a charge the Congress has consistently denied.
