Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's deputy prime minister, will travel to China for a strategic discussion

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, is scheduled to travel to China later this week to co-chair the seventh round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue. The high-level talks will be held in Beijing on January 4, according to an official statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

Dar’s visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Foreign Office described the strategic dialogue as the highest institutional mechanism between the two countries, offering a comprehensive platform to review the full scope of bilateral relations. Discussions will cover political, economic, and strategic cooperation, along with regional and global developments of shared interest to both sides.

During the meeting, the two foreign ministers are also expected to unveil a series of joint initiatives and commemorative programmes to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China in 2026. These activities are intended to highlight the longevity of ties between the two nations and reinforce people-to-people, diplomatic, and economic engagement.

The visit underlines Islamabad and Beijing’s shared resolve to further strengthen their “all-weather” strategic cooperative partnership. It also reflects their continued commitment to promoting regional stability, enhancing development cooperation, and maintaining close coordination on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
