A major accident in Maharashtra’s Beed district led to a terrifying scene on the Dhule–Solapur National Highway after a diesel tanker overturned and exploded, triggering a massive blaze that spread rapidly across nearby grassland. The incident took place at Kolwadi Phata in Pali Ghat, near Manjarsumba, and sent flames shooting high into the air, creating panic among commuters travelling through the ghat section.
According to initial reports, the tanker lost control and overturned, after which it immediately caught fire. Because it was carrying a large quantity of diesel, the flames intensified within minutes and spread outward into surrounding dry vegetation, causing the fire to grow rapidly.
Traffic on both sides of the busy highway came to a standstill, with long queues of two-wheelers and four-wheelers trapped as authorities halted movement to prevent further danger. The sudden explosion and rising flames left many motorists fleeing from their vehicles in fear.
Highway police reached the site quickly and blocked both lanes to secure the area. Fire brigade teams from nearby towns also rushed to the scene and began efforts to control the inferno, though the thick smoke and fast-spreading flames made firefighting operations difficult.
As of now, fire crews are still working to bring the situation under control. The full extent of damage and whether there are any casualties is yet to be confirmed. The incident has caused massive disruption along the Dhule–Solapur corridor and alarm among residents living near Manjarsumba Ghat.
