In a disturbing incident from West Bengal’s Dinhati, police said the motive behind a murder proved to be even more shocking than the killing itself. What initially appeared to be a brutal homicide took a far more alarming turn after investigators uncovered details suggesting cannibalistic intent, leaving local residents stunned and deeply unsettled.
According to police, the victim was an unidentified man who had been living in a cremation ground. He was allegedly attacked with extreme violence and killed. The crime came to public attention when locals noticed suspicious activity in the area and alerted the authorities, prompting police to begin an immediate investigation.
As the probe progressed, police gathered information through local sources and identified a suspect, later named as Ferdous Alam. He was subsequently arrested in connection with the murder. Officials stated that preliminary findings indicate the accused was under the influence of intoxicants at the time the crime was committed, which may have contributed to the extreme nature of the act.
Investigators revealed that after killing the man, the accused allegedly carried the body to a nearby water tap, where it was washed. Police said the body was then concealed, and evidence suggests that the accused intended to consume parts of the flesh, a revelation that led authorities to link the case to cannibalism.
During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime, according to police officials. Investigators are now continuing their inquiry to reconstruct the exact sequence of events, verify the confession, and determine whether the accused may have been involved in any similar incidents in the past.
