A United flight's narrow escape is captured on camera as the aircraft loses its front wheel during landing

A United Airlines aircraft narrowly avoided a crash landing at Orlando International Airport after experiencing a mechanical problem during its attempt to land, according to reports quoting airline officials. The Airbus A321, which was operating a flight from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Orlando, was carrying around 200 passengers along with six crew members at the time of the incident. Due to the malfunction, the aircraft was unable to clear the runway after landing and ended up blocking it, forcing authorities to initiate an immediate evacuation of all passengers.

Videos that later circulated widely on social media appeared to show the aircraft losing its front wheel while landing, indicating serious technical difficulty. Despite the dramatic visuals and the tense situation, officials confirmed that no passengers or crew members were injured. Everyone on board was evacuated safely as a precautionary measure.

After the evacuation, United Airlines arranged bus transportation to take passengers from the aircraft to the airport terminal. At the same time, airport authorities deployed multiple technical and recovery teams to remove the disabled aircraft from the runway so that operations could gradually resume. Emergency response units from the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting department were also present at the scene to ensure safety and provide support if required.

In response to the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily issued a ground stop at Orlando International Airport due to the aircraft emergency. This was later modified to a ground delay, but the disruption caused several outgoing and incoming flights to be delayed as airport operations were adjusted to manage the situation.

The exact cause of the mechanical malfunction has not yet been determined, and officials said investigations are still ongoing. However, there is speculation that adverse weather conditions may have contributed to the problem. On the day of the incident, Orlando experienced rainy, cold and extremely windy weather, which can complicate landing conditions for aircraft.

Reports indicated that wind gusts at Orlando International Airport reached up to 54 miles per hour, while a nearby airport recorded gusts of around 56 miles per hour. In view of these conditions, the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for several areas, including parts of Brevard County along Florida’s east coast, highlighting the severity of the weather at the time.
